Description
While perusing my ancient files, I came across this one harking back to my salad days of Bryce/Poser art work, i.e., the years 2002 through 2005, when I was much more creative, imaginative, indulgent and fun loving than I am now.
Don't bother to zoom, it comes out the same size.
I got the idea for this one from the meerkat, a mongoose of sorts, which is sensitive to movement and sound.
Meerkats demonstrate altruistic behavior within their colonies; one or more meerkats stand sentry, while others are foraging or playing, to warn them of approaching dangers. When a predator is spotted, the meerkat performing as sentry gives a warning bark, and other members of the gang will run and hide in one of the many bolt holes they have spread across their territory. The sentry meerkat is the first to reappear from the burrow and search for predators, constantly barking to keep the others underground. If there is no threat, the sentry meerkat stops signaling and the others feel safe to emerge.

And, it's been so long since I developed this work, I can't remember from whom or where I adopted these creatures, so all I can do is give many thanks to their creator.
Toodles.

Wonderful render! Very creative and fun.
Wonderful and humor filled scene leaves me wondering where did they get the binoculars?
Harry, this one gave me a huge smile today. Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh, this is just priceless! Who doesn't love a meerkat? And with those binocs... LOL This is great!! I keep looking in the background for one of these guys in desert camo with an M-16 slung over his shoulder... I'm still chuckling over this one! Thanks for the giggles!
LOL! I love meerkats, and I can easily imagine them in army kit with binocs...what a fun piece!
I love meerkat and all these of this species, and your creation here is very sweet and beautiful...thanks for your humor touch !!!
LOL... Great concept... Outstandingly well done !!!
Very cool concept. I can almost see a progression to them hunting or defending their turf in some form of military fashion.
Nice funny scene
Ha! Cool, funny and very popular! Fantastic posing mate, well done Rob
This is terrific. I'm with others, here. You took the basic characteristics of the animal, and made a fantasy scene out of it. I love the huge binoculars (and you let us see them in a down-turned version too, in one of the two front meerkats--a really nice addition). And the sentries are so serious, studious. And you got a whole array of postures in the others, including one in a hole (ala your description), one sniffing/foraging, some others in the background looking through binocs, one on the left seeming to talk to the director (out of frame---like, "you want me further to the left? more in the light---what?"), and one---in between the two front characters---who seems to be thinking, "borrrrrrr-ing, I'm outa here..." Just wonderful.
