According to myth, Hyacinth was a beautiful youth loved by the god Apollo. He and his lover were playing throw the disc to each other, when Apollo, to demonstrate his power and impress Jacinto, threw it with all his might. Truly a beautiful image, one of the many myths where a beautiful boy was caught between the love of two gods (Apollo and Zephyr). I like your version better, a tragic accident is slightly better than death by jealousy.
