The LCI was introduced 1943 shortly after the landings on Guadalcanal. It was primarily designed by the need to transport troops from England to the shores of Normandy. This first model was not fitted for longer ranges and thus it was not fitted out with sleeping opportunities. Instead the welds were fitted out with seats and additional seats were installed on deck. Shortly after the first version the second version was developed for longer voyages in the pacific campaign (see my other model!). The two versions are distinguished by the upper structure. This model is the first version for the British usage over the Chanel. There were many smaller sub-versions with some minor differences in details.
