Yesterday - I gave you the leading lady of Saoirse, and today, the leading male character. Here he is... the leading male of Saoirse - Maximilian Euan O'Shaunessey - he was once a privileged rich boy - his family had means - but he HATED the English and what they were doing to the Irish - and being young and foolish - he began robbing their coaches...
NOT because he needed the money, but because he resented the English for their treatment towards the Irish. Their lot in life was going from bad to worse. The potato famine was only the beginning. As with most young men, they had their own ideas of how to get back at them. Max joined in with the rebellion and once caught, due to that scheme already underway against the Irish - daddy could not free him of this.
*Saoirse* is the Irish word for Liberty, or Freedom! Something Max was going to come to appreciate in a way he never thought he would. He would come to survive a genocide of his people - never to know if his own family would.
