Description
No not really it's just a local eel. These amazing creatures travel a total of around 5000km's from where I live in Melbourne to the Coral sea each year to breed. They are thicker than a man's arm but are harmless and friendly.

That's a long way to go for a cuddle; I guess the locals aren't pretty enough? Excellent shots of these "friendly" eels, how do you judge their friendliness?
Hi Denise. Well if you put your fingers in the water they will come right up to you and nibble at your fingers (looking for food!). They will take food right out of your hand!
Never been that intimate with this sort of fish!
WOW.... our eels are much smaller. But in Scandinavia I've also seen such large eels. Smoked they are a delicacy....

Yeah they probably taste like chicken! Friendly or not I wouldn't go near them.With the kind of luck I have lately I'd probably stick my hand in the water and next thing you know my hand is swimming away in some eels mouth. Great shots here Andrew. Stan
