Description
Nearly all of the Mississippi Kites have left our town to begin their slow migration to Central and South America. About two dozen of them were seen near the town's water tower a couple of weeks ago, and birding sites say that they migrate in large groups. So they are gone now.
This is my favorite shot of my little "Junior" as he looked down at me from my Pecan tree shortly after his first flight. His "home tree" is being sawed down today, as it was struck by lightning in the spring and is dying.
