death: Mar 14, 1841 in MA at 89
Revolutionary War soldier in Captain Elderkin's Company, Military Service done in CT
Jabez had 4 brothers and one sister
first wife: Sarah Baker, married June 5, 1791; she divorced him because of adultery naming Lois Etheridge. the divorce was granted on Aug 22, 1808 in CT.
Jabez then eloped with Lois.
Jabez and Sarah had one son: Jeremiah Sholes
he died April 12, 1870 at 82.
Lois Ethridge, Jabez's second wife, died March 17, 1841 at the age of 69.
it's nice to see the new flag on this old stone; we are not ever really forgotten.

That's interesting. We have some Civil War soldiers buried here in Michigan and some Revolutionary War heroes, also buried in our little cemetery!

Barb, thank you so much for sharing this memorable capture with us today. I am surprised at the good condition the stone is still in and like you so glad someone put a new flag alongside it. The research you did was superb and helped to give us a fascinating peek into the past. While tending my Father's grave recently, like you I also took time to look through the stones and pondered who some of these people were and what they did during their lives.

a relative of mine was a Civil War veteran and he is buried in a Confederate veteran's cemetery but he fought for the North thanks for sharing this veteran's family history. very interesting

I read up top you say you're not related and you liked the flag so you did research - that answers everything about this shot.... I too like to look at the gravestone, grave images.... My Mother did not want a grave and wanted her ashes spread... she thought gravesites were a soar eyesite on the planet... and with the earth being satelite mapped constantly, one just woners if you took all the property being used for graves and put them all together, they probably be bigger than pluto - lol.... the thing I see useful about graves is cloning a historical hero from the dead... other than that, lets remove all the stones, scoop up the bodies, mulch em up and give mother nature back her property. not shot you shot.
