Description
There are two places on earth where the effects of major tectonic plates drifting apart can be seen. One is the Great Rift Valley in East Africa. The other is in Iceland at Þingvellir. It is here where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The Almannagjá Rift was created when these two plates began to pull apart.
I took a walk along the pathway through the rift, basalt cliffs on either side. The image below is not artistic or particularly interesting except for one fact. As I stood taking the picture my left foot was in North America and my right foot was in Europe.

How very special Mark and your photograph is special because of the fact.
Interesting shot and information
Fascinating!
Very cool capture and story Through no fault of your own, you were two places at once
That's too cool. The closest I've been to such a thing is driving into Joshua Tree from the south, where you actually drive through the San Andreas. Hardly a continent-spanning event, but a unique experience, nonetheless.
Cool! How many people can say that they've stood in Europe and North America at the same time. Very interesting text and photo!
Very interesting capture and infos! Fortunately for you, tectonic plates do not move too fast ;-)
