Despair - the world has lost its way.
Hope! There is a will in nature to survive under the worst of conditions. The future may not include humans, but it will continue with some form of life flourishing, probably cockroaches and mosquitos.

With a new growth, there has to be hope!
Hope is a four-letter word. When you have the "opportunity" to watch something or someone die, there are invariably times when things start to look up, and you have hope. Just notice the new growth and keep an eye on it, but your life will be a lot easier if you don't attach hope to the event!

I think determination, again as illustrated by this quote from Gone With the Wind when Scarlet said: "As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me.
