Description
Those of you who have read A.C. Clarke sci-fi masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey should remember that this was the last message that David Bowman sent to Earth Mission Control before he disappeared forever in a stargate built by an ancient civilization around the rings of Saturn.
In this old Carrara render I tried to depict these last moments.

really a neat sci fi space scene. good job!
Thanks!
I like the background and planet. the space ship is cool also
Thanks! The spaceship and indeed the whole scene have a bit of a retro style, like in a Flash Gordon movie.
Great image, that even without the description, inspires a sense of drama.
Thanks!
Very nice!
Thanks!
Cool! Very good work!
Love the retro feel!
If you zoom in, you can see the strings holding up the meshes! ;]
My first thoughts when I read the title 2001... superb
The original title was Childhoods end, it wasn't 2001 a Space Odyssey till Stanley Kubrek got a hold of it. Considering the year it was a ground breaker for effects. Way beyond the earlier "space films" up to that time... Excellent creation and dedication. To a landmark film...
WOW....Starwars in a matchbox!
