Description
Captured on Father's Day, 6/15/14, at the Los Angeles Waterfront, looking east between the parking lot and the battleship, which you have been so eagerly awaiting.
Other than being decorative, I believe these ball and pedestal structures serve as a traffic barrier of sorts. I can only speculate. The humongous cocoon in the distance houses someone's crew quarters - an odd structure for that purpose.
Toodles.

I think that they could do the job of blocking traffic, Harry.
amazing shot, well done !!!
Well spotted and taken, Harry.... an unusual traffic barrier, but these great geometric shapes make for a striking subject.
Wow, those are way cool, Harry. Wouldn't it be awesome to catch them early on a foggy morning, with no one around? Hard to plan, though... great find and very great shot!
Another of your fascinating studies of objects on the street. And your angle makes them appear like a military formation, lined up for inspection. The predominant blue-ish gray tones emphasize the abstract quality of the shot. And those big concrete balls are sheer, all-present, and mysterious. And yes, that cocoon structure in the back is one strange beast, but fitting, behind those equally strange orbs. I like the STOP sign, as if telling us that this whole site is not quite in-bounds for us humans; and the fence, cars, and the cranes in the background (or masts of a the ship) emphasize the cold strange feel of this environment. I love the angle and the feel of the shot. And that you caught it in the first place...The balls go back to oblivion in the shot, and they could almost be a piece of street art. Wonderful pov on this, Harry. It feels like an art installation. (I hope this comment posts: Sometimes the glitches on RR last a few minutes and then all is well again. I hope that's the case now...here goes...)
