Description
Just a quick upload tonight. I came across this little fellow sunning himself yesterday along pathway within a local marsh - though the government calls them wet lands. He/she seemed completely unconcerned about my approach or my insistence upon getting up close and a little in his/her face. It was a really nice day after all with long grasses and muddy ground just one or two hops away if needs be. Actually, there were a lot of frogs about that day. Some sunning themselves on the dry patches, some hopping about in swampy waters looking to lunch upon mosquito larvae and some croaking in the distance in the mood for love. After a brief Google search of a few Canadian amphibian info sites, I'm guessing that this is a Northern Green Frog - lithobates clamitans melanota. Mostly because the species is native to Southern Ontario and because this one is really green. Thank you all again for stopping by to take a look. I'm hoping you've all had a good day and are getting ready for the weekend. Cheers!

Handsome fellow!
What a beautiful frog! Lovely patterns and colors. Tell him to stop posing for the camera and go eat those mosquito larvae. When I read that bit, I though again, 'What a BEAUTIFUL frog!' Excellent capture! I like the shape of his hand showing on the far side.
