Description
I discovered a completely new bird in my yard today.
Several weeks ago I posted an image of a Western Kingbird.
This is a first year female Eastern Kingbird.
She still has a touch of yellow on her beak and a speckled tail instead of a mostly black tail.
I kept looking for a woodpecker because of the clacking noise I heard.
Turns out that Kingbirds do "bill snapping" when they see something that they perceive as a threat.
Taken this morning in my yard. Try full size.
In my next upload, I'll show you what the grasshopper was for. ;)
Thank you very much for your views, comments, and faves.

Taken beak in the bag... of gluttony lolll This is nice capture!
How very exciting! A great pic, Maria.
The Kingbird atop the branch creates an interesting X pattern, as depicted in this stellar photograph, Maria. Terrific leaf colors and patterns abound in this one.
Amazing capture Maria. God bless.
That is indeed a fantastic shot and I am looking forward to see what the grasshopper is for :-)
