Description
This is one of our cats, Peanut. She looks so peaceful just lying on the couch, doesn't she? She's also fairly small as cats go, but she's a fierce hunter. In the last week, she has killed three ground squirrels & two mice. At least that we know of, because those are the ones whose half-eaten grisly remains she has left on the welcome mat by our front door. And I mean grisly - disemboweled, with bloody intestines visible, decapitated heads, eyeballs hanging, bits of chewed up tail & the like. My wife generally discovers the remains & it's my job to dispose of them. We've had her for several years & she's only done this a couple of times in the past, so we're hoping she gets tired of her killing spree soon, as I'm not enjoying the cleanup chores.

Please bring Peanut to my house. Perhaps she can get rid of the ground squirrels that terrorize my cat and keep the doves from eating their share of the droppings from my bird feeder. I love the photo, BTW, nice colors and patterns.

Wonderful shot of an attractive cat. A good majority of our domestic cats will behave in this manner, it's not uncommon, I have seen this behaviour many times with different cats... it's not very pleasant but it's really them surrendering to their true nature rather like the big cats do in the wild. They tend to have these moments once in a while when they do this. She's a lovely cat and I bet there are more than a few who would like to call upon her services.
My gray tabby is of a similar disposition. A natural born hunter and killer who totally lives to be outdoors and on the prowl. My problem is that she brings home a fair number still alive and then lets them go in the house where she continues the chase. I would rather have your problem rather than have a badly wounded bird flapping around that I then have to do a mercy kill on. I can tell Peanut is a born hunter... just look at how wide her paws have expanded as she grips the couch. My Trina has exactely the same anatomy... her paws easily more than double in size. If the problem bothers you to much you can purchase a catbib on line. It interferes with a cats ability to side swiipe its prey. Good shot of Peanut and not too grainy in my book.
Unfortunately, I've had to do a couple of mercy killings too & you're right - that's a lot worse than cleaning up remains. Unless this persists a lot longer, though, I think I'll just let nature take it's course.
