Description
The phenomenon of ocean phosphorence is caused by light emissions by minute marine organisms. It is most prevalent in tropical waters.
"Starbright"
Walking on the beach at night
with stars above aglow.
My eyes beheld the strangest sight,
for there were stars below.
They shone so brightly on the beach
and glittered on the sand,
Where I could simply bend and reach
to touch them with my hand.
I looked at them all shining there,
and paused to wonder why
they'd travelled from a place somewhere,
or fallen from the sky.
They glittered with an eerie blue,
the likes I'd never seen.
Were they from a world I knew,
or where I'd never been?
I picked them up and placed them so
they spread out on each hand,
which then gave off a starlight glow
I sought to understand.
So I raised my arms up high,
still shining with their light.
"Join your brothers in the sky,
and leave the Earth tonight"
"I say to you, each little star
to take me in your stream,
and let me see your world afar
no longer in a dream".
