C'est la pleine saison du carnaval, ici à Dunkerque.
C'est une tradition tirée des bandes de pêcheurs qui partaient de longs mois en Islande et qui profitaient de ces instants de liesse avant d'embarquer. Comme leur paquetage était souvent déjà à bord, c'est une des explications du fait que les hommes empruntaient des vêtements féminins pour se déguiser.

It is a tradition derived from the bands of fishermen who went long months in Iceland and taking advantage of these moments of joy before boarding. As the package was often already on board, this is one explanation for the fact that men borrowed female clothes to disguise.
