Both are splendid images but this is the one for me. Very dramatic in b&w.
I somehow missed the first one so went and looked; this one is simply gorgeous. The light and shadows simply ROCK!!
This one has even more punch but the colour one has that 'afternoon at the beach' special feel to it.

zoom is a must here; the textures are more dramatic here than in the color piece (which has more richness due to those deep orange browns, but less drama to my eyes). The shadows are more present---and you not only have shadows from the little twigs/branches, but from striations in the ground itself. In black and white, these things become quite musical. And the twigs/branches have a luminous white---very nice work! I'm a huge fan of black and white, and I always love it when you do pics in black and white. A delicate and articulate closeup; and fine shadow and texture work all around.
