Description
For the past few weeks now, the days have been very hot and the nights very humid, when a little sleep is rare and all you can do is, lay on top of the bed, covered by a sarong and read a good book ...
... and I did read one, which had been given to me a long, long time ago: 'Come My Beloved' by Pearl S. Buck, but a translated version into German: 'Und faenden die Liebe nicht' - right ! and I had been meaning to read it for years ...
BTW it was mainly about India and the oppressive heat ... (weatherwise presently similar to ours right now) but don't get me wrong, I prefer the warmth to cold weather anytime ;P and this somehow became an inspiration now -
needless to say, I finished reading it in 3 nights (!) and then took my trusty little Fuji on various other nights for a spin and went hunting for the Cactus flowers, which usually close again at daybreak.
They are absolutely glorious and I hope you like them too ?
and more good news, at last - we have now received some rain ! - heaven for us and the garden :))
~ Cheers Brigitte ~

Aha! You caught them with their petals open. Very pretty.
Fantastic and very beautiful capture Brigitte! they are lovely blossoms
Better known as the "Nifty Night Creepers"...LOL, just kidding ! So sleepless nights aren't all that bad, if you get to find garden surprises like these stunners ! Digging how they coexist with the Jacaranda's as well, probably stops them from snapping in the strong winds we been experiencing recently. ~Cheers~
cool for us if you cant sleep:-) what a beautyful blossom, never seen!
I can almost smell them..what a delight!
Nice shot Brigitte!

"Heaven is where the sun shines" a lyric from Genesis :) but I know how oppressive it can be too, a lovely photo Brigitte, and I am happy you have some cooling rain :)

Absolutely gorgeous blooms! Thanks for creeping around in the garden in the middle of the night to catch this. :)
Very beautiful capture! Lovely flowers! Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic capture here, loved the textures and details, well done!
it's stunning!!! (sounds like a cool idea to read a book about oppressive heat LOL) hope the rain will cool you down!!
Excellent
Such an heavenly photo, my dear Brigitte, as for me it looks like heavenly appears on my screen. I can continue enjoy the sight, and the nighttime atmosphere. I have no idea whether they also smell, I'm curious about that, big sister. So good of you to read, and to use this clammy nights; of which now came an end, because you wrote about the rain. On the other hand, I heard on the news, it would again be extremely hot in Australia. If so, I hope you have another good book which is waiting for reading, by now and then going in your beautiful garden, who knows what you will discover this time, huh?
They look a little like daisies. This type of cactus I've never seen blooming..... You have a "green thumb"! Thank you, Brigitte! Wonderful presentation!!
Great capture, Brigitte!! I have heard the problems with heat and fires. I Denmark it often rains so if I could send some rain showers down under?..
A very cool capture Brigitte and a beautiful photo of the blooms. I am glad that you had a night safari - a remember last years night series!
hot summer nights? what's that like.... been in the minus 30's the past few days (and nights) and the groundhog says we're due for six more weeks of winter..... ah... who listens to rodents anyways..... beautiful capture.... maybe you should get your cabana boy to mix you up a cold drink.... ice tea and lemon?
I plan a long session in your gallery this week, but I'm kind of edging into it with a few pieces here and there. I remember this a bit after you posted this. (Yes, I've looked many times in your gallery.) This is a big tangle of nature, beautifully intertwined, and set off by stark dark and light contrasts. The light on the growths is intense, and hot. (Maybe a camera-flash? Or light from inside your home?) While the background is pure darkness. So you have an almost flat sight of the front plants, and a kind of layered bunch of plants behind---almost as in a print. It's wonderfully tangled and energetic; and it does speak of hot nights. It amazes me that you all get scalding summers down there, at the same time we get frigid winters---last winter, we had one of the coldest in memory. We DEFINITELY didn't have any sights like this! It's a big tangled beautiful tangle, and the light makes it come right at us...
