Description
As soon as Sinterklaas is gone (6 december) Christmas trees arrive in the city. This one, a gift from the Kingdom of Sweden for the Kingdom of the United Netherlands was put here Yesterday on the (Swedish) day of St. Lucia.
It stands proud in front of the former Royal Palace (now Escher Museum).
Next year we celebrate 400 years of relations between the (in those days) Republic [of the 7 United Netherlands] and the Kingdom of Sweden. The Republic was a mistake, as Republic's are Always a mistake. The relationship between Sweden and the Dutch is a great one.

While I disagree that republics are always a mistake, I do think it's wonderful that Sweden and the Dutch have had such a storied history of peace and prosperity.
We have seen it both.. Republic and later Monarchy.. so we know

Mooie opname.
Fantastic photo, and excellent read on the Dutch/Swedish relationship. I've always loved European architecture, and this building is no exception!
Excellent effects of the tree shadows on the old Royal Palace and a gorgeous Christmas tree!
