Description
Every summer my sister and I went with our grandmother to spend a week with her relatives. One year, our Uncle Addis needed to get water from a local pond to use in his hog pen. He loaded the truck with barrels, the water pump, four cousins and a bucket for good measure. At the pond he tried to get the water pump to start with no success. After a good fifteen minutes of watching him struggle, the four of us looked at each other, grabbed the bucket and formed a line. I stood in the pond and dipped water, handed it off to the next girl who handed it up to the truck. We filled two of the barrels that way before Uncle Addis decreed it was enough for that day and took us to my Great Grandfather’s general store and bought us all grape Nehi soft drinks. I could send this picture to my sister with no explanation and she would immediately know what I was illustrating. Some memories stick with you forever.

very beautiful scene and story
Great little story and render!
Lovely scene and fun story.
histoire d'eau!!
That's team work for sure! I remember at one time we had to carry our water from a spring. No fun, but with four older brothers I have fond memories of how we goofed off and threw water on each other...and it was cold! lol I'm sure this image would bring back fond memories for your sister also. Excellent work!
Wonderful render and story, Teri. Great illustration of the story too.
It´s always nice if a picture has a story! Well done! :-)
Good image, made even better by the true story. All five poses are excellent. That must have taken some time to get them just right.
Great render and so lovely to be able to turn those memories into images :-)
Great story with an image to match :-)
A very lively image. Rural life can be so interesting. I thought the water's especially well done. And I was seriously thinking of the rhyme: 'Jack and Jill went up a hill, to fetch a pail of water...' :)
That is a great story! :D Love the illustration.
