Description
Every New Year's Day, Huntington Beach has a "Polar Plunge". Lots of people make a mad dash for the water, and most come right back out. A few brave, hardy souls swim a while, but they don't last long. You can see some also dress up in some pretty funny clothes. My sister and I thought about having our own dip in her pool, but saner minds prevailed!!

We have that same event here. What is the water temperature there, do you know?
What can I say matey.....better them than me. I never worried about cold water when I was a kid, but since I went on blood pressure medication I can't handle chilly weather! My arms and legs turn to ice!
Cool & fun shot. I remember when I was growing up in NYC, there was a group called the Polar Bear Club that used to go swimming in the frigid Atlantic in the dead of winter. I could never really understand what would motivate them to do that kind of thing. If you need to jump in the water on a cold day, a hot tub seems like such a better choice to me...
I did once swim in Lake Wabamun when it was still mostly ice on the lake...lasted about 15 minutes! Now I would be dead in 45 seconds I think, LOL! And your water down there is plenty cold that time of year.
