Description
Corals are marine invertebrates, typically living in compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. The group includes the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. The top photo is with a flash and the bottom photo is without. Coral is just SO beautiful and there are so many different types!! I read an article the other day that broke my heart. It seems the Prime Minister of Australia, within 24 hours of taking office, gave the okay to a large coal company, which I'm sure donated greatly to this guy's campaign, gave the company permission to start dredging a shipping highway that runs right through the Great Barrier Reef. There as a picture of the start of the dredging and it is horrible for any nature lover...and they are saying this will kill the reef. Greed once again leads to destruction of nature!
