At the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center outside Ilwaco, Washington.
(I wanted to take them down and dust them.)

....and I thought: Is it Christmas already? Balls are always a special eyecatcher and challenge in equal measure. Wonderful .....the reflections are excellent!

OH! Every time I see such, I think about my wonderful father and my uncle, his brother. They knotted ropes around such fishing floats. I have severel in my patio. ....... EHH!! Maybe as dusty as these too <:-P

At one time, a lot of these would float to Hawaii and we find them on the beaches. But now I don't see them anymore.... Floaters that come to Hawaii now will be a sad reminder of the tsunami in Japan... Aloha
These are delightful - a great capture, Tara! They are lovely... I love shiny glass things.... :-P They do look like they could stand a bit of dusting! Tell ya what... Bring your dustrag next time you're in Missouri - I have LOTS of insulators that need some attention!! LOL!
LOL! Maybe you should carry some cans of that airduster, and give things a surreptitious blast...these are gorgeous! I'd have been tempted to give them a swing and set them all clacking!

I love these floats; have a couple of them in my garden. And it's great seeing another of your light and glass fotos; they're always just beautiful!!
You have captured the beauty of these utilitarian globes so well. Perhaps a message left by a finger "Dust Me!"
I'm pretty sure these are reproductions. Originals I've seen were not tied this way. The glass looks authentic, but most had rotted rope work so perhaps they just used netting over the original Japanese floats, which are still somewhat available. The netting appears to be more recent trawler seine. Nice shot though.
