Fantastic painting, Jock. I remember Tofi's photo well.
This is really beautiful!
Jock, I'll be commenting in your gallery in two sittings, because I won't have the time to do it all at one time. So there will be more tonight or tomorrow, for sure. Anyway, it's always a special pleasure to come back here and comment. I see everything you post when you post it, but commenting is a different thing, because I get to "commune" with your work at length when I comment. This painting is so bold, the colors---as always in your wonderful paintings---are so rich and saturated; they "build" as they move, like the way your pinks and reds get more intense as we move up the water. And such beautiful colors in the sky---those deep pinks and oranges, against those blues. You've made a 'fringe' for the opening in the sky...Then the dark blue water is painted so richly; and the bottom part of the water has beautiful light blues in it, along with whites and muddy pinks... The ducks' reflections (in the water) are like beautiful ghosts: They're so elongated and expressive! This is a symphony as much as a painting; and you painted the opening in the sky like a glimpse into the vaults of heaven. Beautiful Jock, as always. Fiinally, though this was posted all the way back on september 23d, I want to wish you a belated happy birthday. (I'm a little late! Sorry! But it's a good reason to celebrate.) I really love your art.
