Since the invention of the diving helmet by the Deane brothers from Whitstable (GB) and the improvement of the helmet by the inventor August Siebe in 1828 is the diving helmet applied to the wreck dives. You see how old he can be!! Beautiful picture!!!

I've seen something like this in a amusement park. The helmet was really very heavy.
It looks a tad leaky too!
I remember the divers mending our pier who wore this 'Standard Dress'. I also went out with an underwater welder for a while who also sometimes used this sort of gear .

I tried on one of these in the Navy and I could not handle the weight. They kept telling me that it didn't weight as much when in was underwater. I didn't test the theory and stuck with scuba gear!.
Probably a terrible way of working (in the past)
