Just playing with idea's (as i always tend to do)
Model/Mats/Design-My own. Created solely in Bryce 4 with boleans and prims.

I do like the metal colorations on this guy. The ground and the nice shadow make it easy to see the over-all design and detail of it too. I know you're just messin' around with ideas but have you thought about doing things that are closely related to insects but not quite, i.e. spiders, lobsters, etc.? (Just trying to help you out LOL).
It probably lays eggs on rusted metal
