Description
Leaf mines on a wild cherry Leaf, probably by the Micro-moth Lyonetia clerkella.
There are some excellent photos of the artist as an adult (well, his relations) Here and also a life cycle.
I really like this one. Some of the others examples in this tree gallery were a bit random and messy.

I've heard of crop circles but leaves? Nice catch. Very artistic in a minimalistic sort of way.
I had to look up leaf miners. It's very interesting that they have evolved to eat inside the leaf and only certain layers. I also found an answer to a question I had about why the trail was getting wider, that the insect was growing. Nice pattern and capture. The trail seems to glow.

Mother Nature is a master artist! A lovely capture and when I was a kid we called them snail trails. Who knew it could be a moth?
The artists in your area seem to be quite busy! :) I like the little trails along the leaf's spine as an accompaniment to the larger work.

OHH Yes, this unfortunatly reminds me of our little chestnut tree. Almost all the leave are quite beautiful from another little bug eating it, as you once said might happen.Yup, It happened and I am afraid they will kill the tree.
