This was taken with my D40X in the parking lot of a best Buy store as I was leaving it. It is kind of ironic that I was at the Best Buy because I was looking for a new lens in order to get better details in photos of birds (among other things). I had taken my camera in so I could take pics with my 200mm max lens as well as a 300mm max lens (provided by the store). I figured this would enable me to visually compare what difference there was in 'subject size' between the two lenses. Immediately upon leaving I got this shot of a bird with the very 55 - 200mm lens I was wanting to replace, lol. It helped a lot that this bird was not afraid of me at all. It was in a flock of about 15 birds of the same species and none were overly concerned about me or anyone else. We have all seen parking-lot birds as they forage. I just happened to have my camera in my hand when I saw these. I just pointed the camera, focused the shot and took the photo with the same settings I had used inside the store. I did have to do a fair amount of editing on this image. It was way too bright outside compared to the relatively dark inside. Turned out to be a pretty decent shot (after editing), lol. I cannot definitively identify the species but I keep thinking - immature Grackle. It was a medium to medium plus sized bird. It didn't hop. It walked. In this image, it appears lighter than it did in person but it was strongly back lit, standing on light colored pavement and the lighting contrasts were heavy. I used a bit brighter than usual edit because I wanted it's colors to be seen better. My thanks to those who have taken the time to comment. The feedback is appreciated. Lee
