Description
This is a new flower in my greenhouse. It is very small, less than 5mm across! I have never seen it before so I thought I'd post it. The plant is one I grow for leaf colour. It is a very lucky plant. In spring I found I had missed watering it and it looked very sad. So I put it outside the greenhouse and gave it a thorough soaking. I forgot to put it back in overnight and we had a light frost! I saw the leaves wither and brown but new growth started a few weeks later. Now it is very colourful again and even flowering. It must have said a little prayer for itself! As this is its common name "Prayer plant" ( Maranta tricolor ). The inset is the same plant in its fresh new leaves.

A little treasure Kevin. It looks like a little frosted orchid. I kept prayer plants for years (didn't we all) but never ever have I seen one in flower. Ours never survived the move to Lancashire from Shropshire. You must have got it's treatment absolutely right. I've fallen in love with this plant all over again!
a splendid shot
Amazing capture my friend. God bless.
How exciting to get a flower on a Maranta!
This is very beautiful Kevin and a super story.
Beautiful shot!
I remember those, the leaves point up at some point during the day/night; I also remember those little tiny flowers. I used to have them as houseplants in California. Lovely specimen and shots!
Interesting leaves!
