Description
The Northwest corner of Superstition Mountain. This was as far as I made it. One day when I have lost enough weight I will be going over the top. It was about three miles from the parking lot to the place I took this picture. I spent the night and went down in the morning.
Canon Powershot SX130IS hand held.

Cool to see these mountains without moving :-) Thanks. Did you find the gold mine ?
You got some great cumulus clouds there in the picture! If Bob spots them your sure to get a comment out of him!
Sounds so exciting, it was well worth it I see.
Wonderful shot of this amazing landscape, love it! hugs Jane xx
Superb Shot! Aloha
Thanks everyone. I was miles away from the mine.
Wonderful capture. The light is nearly perfect in this scene.
That looks pretty formidable to climb over it, totally out of my range now! Good luck with it, always nice to have goals! Now I want to see you take a shot from the top.
Well worth the 3 mile hike Dan.
Fascinating landscape & those clouds are very intense...
The walk was worth it.. Is there a trail going up? very good shot..
"Superstition" is such a great name for a mountain. g I enjoyed this series, cool rock formations, plus I learned about the Lost Dutchman's Mine thanks to it.
fabulous view
Thanks everyone!
Nice colours. Love the golden tones of the mountain
Thanks.
What a fantastic experience this must have been, Dan! I'm jealous! :) I could only imagine how much greater life would be up there, one step closer to the clouds! Excellent view and capture!
Great capture. When I first came to Arizona in 1973 I was approaching the Superstition Mountains one day from Mesa, and I thought I would drive up there. Saw all those horizontal layers and thought they were a road. I pulled off from the Apache Trail on the way to Canyon Lake and found out really fast that this is some very tough country. The only time I have seen the top fairly close was from Hueys when flying with the Army Guard around there!
Thanks. I graduated from HS in Ohio in 1973 and wish I would have come out here then.
it is beautiful. one can stand at a vantage point and think, well that does not look too hard to ascend. after the fact one finds it is difficult
Look like these cliffs are walking for the top? Excellent capture!! :o)
Thanks guys.
Fabulous landscape !
Thank you.
Looks like some serious climbing ahead. What an amazing view and landscape.
