This is a look at the Moenkopi formation from the side. That's the one with all the layers of mud and sediment.

It does look remarkably unstable! Gorgeous light and the colours are deliciously rich.
Amazing landscape. Ironic that the vegetation that grows on it sows the seeds of its own destruction. The roots open up cracks in the stone, the rain comes and the water erodes and...That's the Way the Moenkopi Crumbles.
