Description
...at least around here.
Captured 7/23/13, early in the morn, not in Beverly Hills or Brentwood, but about a mile from home.
To say this is an anomaly would be an extreme understatement. It stands out like an island of opulence in a sea of mostly generic middle class homes and apartments. It really pops out and can't be missed.
In any case, though others may disagree, I think it's beautifully sumptuous -- or sumptuously beautiful....whatever.
To properly view the many details, a ZOOM is highly recommended.
Arrivederci, baby, and have a nice day.

Beautiful photograph, very nice capture :)
Excellent photo of this ostentatious building.
Just a humble cottage..... :-P A great capture of this gorgeous abode!
Awesome capture Very well done!!!!!!!!!!
An excellent capture! Opulent indeed! I understand the title now, I thought it said adobe! Dyslexia who needs it.
Making a statement here! Fine photo but I really don't like the building¬
Great looking capture Harry, this really is a lovely home.
lovely :)
Very unique home. Quite lovely though too. Excellent POV for this photo too, you really captured a lot of the details which help illustrate the complexity of the home.
do look strange. but wonderful also. cool shot
Great find/shot Harry. I want to see the inside. Do you think they'd let us in if we came knocking at the door??? ;)
Outstanding picture. Aloha
Most amazing image of this rather glorious looking abode Harry! Very well captured!
fancy stuff.... beautifully photographed
It is a bit over the top for the area, but I think it's lovely; one of my favourite styles of architecture. That window way up high over the entry portico looks like it might just be a faux one, there doesn't seem to be any kind of room behind it. Maybe the house belongs to an architect who just wanted to showcase the Southwestern Spanish influence on building styles? Whatever, the story would be interesting no matter what it turned out to be. Excellent capture, Harry!
It's realy fantastic ! Wonderfully done !
Nice photograph ; great post work ! An image only a realtor can appreciate.
It's a great looking place, I'd live there lol Super shot Harry, well spotted! And....I love your new Avatar! Rob
very nice capture!
I only can do 2 or 3 tonight, Harry, but I'll be back for more, as always. This is definitely Spanish-influenced---something I assume is common in S.California---depending on the neighborhood, of course. And it's great that it's in a neighborhood that isn't filled with these mansions: In the Chicago area, you have Frank Lloyd Wrights, as well as houses by his disciples, scattered all over the area; and sometimes they show up where you least expect them. It's a nice surprise. So I understand the surprise of finding a place like this where one doesn't expect it... But I want to talk about the photo. You got fine mix of tones---on walls that are largely a flesh-pink-beige---with shadow, with light, with texture. It's a very complex set of hues. Then there's your composition: This has terrific pov, placement and composition. You made the entryway go on an angle; in the high arches of that tall portico, you placed not the 'center' one in the center---the center arch faces to the left: Rather, you gave us a 'side' arch for the center---so that you've centered that portico "off-center," which gives really nice counterpoint to the building. But the whole shot is like that: Your angle gives us several rhythms, rather than the head-on one that architectural photographers often go for (esp in commercial shots). Really well done. And you've done service to nature's hues, which balance-out these Spanish "peach" tones very well. Finally, the foliage is very 'embracing' here. A beautiful architectural capture in detail, hue, and pov. (It says: "Casa Cortreras": Man, if your home is called "Casa something," I figure you gotta either have money or else you really want the world to know you're there. I think I'll put "Casa Mark" on my window---27 floors up---so the city can know who I am. Anyway it's a terrific shot, with the walkway and patio drawing us into the building. Love it.)
