As a teen, I loaded hay onto a truck from the field and then into the barn. We often had to lift and stack the bales higher than our head. It was hot, dusty, dirty, hard work. I think I got paid $0.02 per bale loaded into the barn. Thirty bales made a U.S. ton of hay. Nice image.
