I decided to give Daviid Brinnen's volumetric snow ProMaterial a go in this one,and it works very well! Two custom terrains create the landscape,as well as an additional terrain for the crash site snow displaced by the impact.Ship is one of my Wings3D models. All materials are ProMaterials, some slightly modified.Sky,light and atmo are all custom...clouds created in DTE, Snow effect applied to a large cube .Postwork involved a slight levels adjustment, signature and resizing. Thanks for viewing and any comments you wish to leave!

Fantastic image! Love the massive terrain! Corrie
Really nice work on the terrains and textures. I'm surprised applying the snow material to a cube is so effective, but it is.
Great terrain and sky and the snow works really well!
Love those UFO renders, please do more! Outstanding render! Stan

great terrain and snow effect!
Excellent scene!!!
Well done!
Brilliant! The snow fall effect is great, the terrains and the model UFO look awesome as well. Now I have to try that cube idea myself... :-)
One of your best.
For sure the snow is over the top as always in your render. We could believe that it really happened ! A masterpiece. P.S. : Thanks for the link to David Brinnen's Tutorials...
