OK so the first person to get the correct answer was sgtbob14......it was most definitely TAKING OFF! Above and below are the sequence of photos I took straight after the initial 'quiz' photo. Thanks everyone for taking the time to have a guess!

Ok, I'll accept it's taking off, but!!! in the bottom image it appears to be taking off ACROSS the runway not down it. Of course I've heard of VSTOL.....but that's ridiculous!! unless he did one of those cartoon 90 degree handbrake turns after leaving the ground. I suppose if Walt Disney can buy Star Wars, maybe Warner Brothers bought Lockheed ?? Seriously though.....great images of a seriously cool piece of kit. Nicely timed series, the angle and change in size combined with the changing background gives a good indication of the distance covered and therefore speed of this thing.I'll bet the noise wasn't too shabby either :-)
