Description
Warm and wonderful Birthday wishes from the land of 'OZ' to you, dear ~LUCINDA~
I wanted to give you something very personal, as a present for your special day ...
I searched folder after folder and came up with a blank and then I thought, why not show you something I had created in the 60's ...
I had purchased a box of Van Gogh's fine pastels in chalk, with a recommendation from a good friend and this was my very first attempt ever to draw something, I only had a black piece of cardboard available and this was the result.
I always wanted to know, if I could draw at all - so this is a bit of a clumsy start, but I could never discard this first art work, so it's a sort of a melancholy trip for me - back into my past, (soon after arriving, as an immigrant, in Australia).
These Roses were delivered by a cute little Donkey, all the way from Turkey - via Australia - especially for you and I do hope you will like them, as much as my nostalgia trip ...
Many Happy Returns to you :)))
Cheers Brigitte

this is so very beautiful Brigitte! a perfect gift for Lucinda
Beautiful gift!
Great in so many ways! If the mice have't eaten them I still my have my artworks from when I was eight in the roof. I don't want to go and look in case they are gone! I do like this, what a success!
A beautiful dedi for Lucinda. Wonderful cordially. But share with friends is a joy. I can not believe it's your first painting. Super work!
This is brilliant artwork Brigitte, you have a great talent and I am sure Lucinda will love it.
This was your first effort? I'd say you are a natural. A wonderful gift for Lucinda.
Nice!
I see you have been creative every time in your life! so lovely done, great surprise for Lucinda!
This is marvelous, Brigitte! And this was your first work!? Thank you so much for this wonderful and personal gift! I love it, both the image and the nostalgia trip! I drew a lot growing up, but mostly the same things, ladies from hairstyle books, trolls (the little dolls), and paper doll clothes. Other than some doodles that were in letters when I was a teenager, they are all gone. My sister, Leslie, had all the old paper dolls until a flood in New Orleans destroyed them. She was heart sick to lose them, because of all the memories they held. Our paper dolls lived in Regency England, the American West, on other galaxies (visited by the Star Ship Enterprise), to name just a few of their travels. They had quite a wardrobe. I don't know where to start with this marvelous work! The colors are so rich against the dark background. I love the variety of colors in the architecture; the delicate lines and colors of the minarets, the more earthy reds and tans of the domed buildings, and the blues which shine like reflected light. And the roses! The colors, shapes, and the way the outlining of them by the background adds to their distinctiveness and charm is just wonderful. They remind me of painted work I've seen in the northeast, perhaps of the Amish tradition. They have the same vitality. I love the shading on the baskets and donkey, the lighter weave of the basket, the outlining fur on the donkey's face and ears, and very cute tuft of hair. The red bridle is a wonderful accent and connects him to the flowers he is carrying. The cobblestones curve around and draw me into the image. I am so glad you could never discard this first art. Thank you so much for delivering these roses, on this cute little donkey, to me on my birthday. I would love him if I had no idea whose work he was, and his history and connection to you, makes him all the more meaningful for me. Thank you, dear Brigitte. This really made my day, which was already pretty great, even brighter!
I remember the first time I discovered this chalk Masterpiece and was blown away, especially when I found out, it was your handy work...WOW again ! Now I know where I get my creativity, thanx Mum ! Wonderful dedication for your friend ! ~Cheers~
