wonderful shot
Lichen are symbiotes of plant and fungus. Or at least that's what my botany textbook claimed years ago. Very good capture.
great shot
Gorgeous
wonderful shot
The best symbiotic relationship between a fungus and a photosynthetic "alga"... A good medecine as a "sign...nature".
Very interesting. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like that on a tree. (I'm serious. In all my life here in Chicago, I don't think I've seen anything like that before. And if it hadn't already been explained, I would think it was harmful growth. Something very new to me.)
Beautiful capture and motif, Mike. Lichen is mother nature's personal artwork :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichen
there are some awesome textures in nature.
Funny stuff, grows just on air and the odd shower and makes tree look like it stepped out of Lord of the Rings ! Nice find and capture ! ~Cheers~
it gives the tree character!!
Beautiful tree!!!!
Ho..... a lot of moistures on it but he whant to live . Great pic and thanks for this beauty ((5++))
Very good capture!
I’m liking this group of lichen my friend!
Wonderful capture Mike, love it!!!
Love the texture of this, Mike! I think Ray is right - seems to me it's more of a fungus.. But it's cool either way!
Oooh, flaky epiphytes. How marvelous! They're hybrid life forms, actually: algae living in perfect balance with a fungus, each is dependent on the other for survival and reproduction. I love these things! They're such complex, fascinating things.
Well, it doesn't look like one but.....technically it is... But very weird looking.. Good shot! Rob
