Description
I found this Mantis while photographing the flowers of the Cane Plant in my dad's front yard. It was about two and half inches long. This is the last of three shots.
Shot in macro mode with my Canon Powershot SX130IS.

nice macroshot
Excellent shot!
Thanks guys.
Cool capture and motif, Dan. A very good macro. A fascinating insect, the Mantis. They are quite scary when they mate... the female bite the head of the male, during the mating :) ..to get rid of a mating preventing hormon in the male brain :) And during the rest of the mating.. she eat his body.. bit by bit...scary but fascinating creature. :) Happy it ain't the same for the human mating session...i would have been dead and headless for several decades :)
OMG..... Great.
Thanks guys!
WOW... amazing close-up .
Thanks.
Marvelous details, loved it!
real clear looking
I've never been a big fan of bugs, although I know these are benign (to humans, anyway; they're not so friendly to other insects.) Still, this is a very nice series.
Thanks guys.
