Description
Captured 5/8/13, early AM, less than a mile from my audacious abode.
Pardon me for being so graphic, but it kind of reminds me of blood and guts. This is from the same tree that gave us the Irritable Tree Trunk posting, previously shown. That particular surgery is on the other side of the trunk.
Tons/tonnes of postwork were employed to bring out the lovely stark colors, contrasts and textures on this old timer. It must be under considerable stress after all the limb surgeries it's experienced. The plus side to all this is the lavish bark and burls/tumors it displays.
Truly fabulous in ZOOM.
Incidentally, it was 107.4F degrees in my patio at 2 PM today. That is 41.89 degrees Celsius. That after a very dry winter.
Avtio, and have a nice day.

Magnificent texture my friend, excellent capture, marvelous details!
Great job on this truly wild capture, Harry.
did a good job here
If it gets over 70 it's approaching too hot for me. A very interesting photo!
I T C A N B E A N I C E P O R T R A I T ! Nice Shot!
Masterly PW!
Wow, spectacular response to the probably necessary surgery, Harry; beautifully captured! Bet when that tree is felled it will make for some beautiful slices for tabletops and other woodwork.
Plenty of random colors and textures exhibited here. I've noticed that some of the scarring toward the lower middle right resembles squinting eyelids seemingly in pain. Great capture!!! :}
Blood and guts exposed! Another reason to be a little irritable. Wonderful colors, textures, and patterns. I love the convoluted (I guess it would be the guts) part to the right, the streaky part just below, and the cracks in the main cut. Very beautiful! Our weather has been cooler than normal for the first part of May (highs in the low to mid 80's), but it looks like we will soon be having highs around our average high (90).
Great close up!
It is the tree version of that mate... Horrible.. If a branch becomes too big, knock the house down.. The tree was there first.. Sorry my views are strong, but my opinion of mankind is very low.. Its a good shot though mate.. Rob
