Description
Aucuba japonica, commonly called Spotted laurel or Japanese laurel is a shrub native to rich forest soils of moist valleys, thickets, by streams and near shaded moist rocks in China and Japan.
This male flower on the plant in my garden is only 12 mm across the widest point, hence the lack of sharpness from my Tizzy! I think it still looks beautiful.

What a graceful little thing! I love the almost fleshy feeling this has. The symmetry is quite eye-appealing as well. I love the muted sense of color and the way this inspires me to think about something involving...well...aliens with skin in this particular shade.
The pattern of the flower looks like it was designed by a quilter. (Of course it would be the other way around, but still ... I'm sure you see what I mean.) What a beauty!
So very pretty.

An interesting looking plant. Excellent shot, fantastic details.
Strange and wonderful. Great shot.
Such beauty in such a teeny tiny space. Another one new to me. The symmetry is lovely.
A most unusual plant to my eyes, and precisely symmetrical as far as the petals and pistils are concerned.
Tizzy took a spectacular photo Andrea. A very delicate flower and are those four stamens.
Great macro Andrea, I've seen a lot of these Laurels but never taken notice of the flowers.
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
