Description
This is a scene I cooked up to examine Carrara's GI lighting model.
Much of the modeling you see here is recycled from other stuff I've made over the years. The chair came from the Carrara content CD (with a modified cushion). The pen on the table is also a Carrara content CD model.
The walls, molding, one of the pictures, the ceiling light fixture, and lamp are all new models. The door, one of the pictures, table, spaceman spiffs flying saucer, treasure chest, radiator, coffee mug, floor, light switch, plugin, and bed are all old models I made for some reason in another life somewhere.
I rendered this using indirect GI lighting. The corner suffers anamolies but the rest of the image came out fairly well! This was a 12 hour render using a four headed machine.
40,000 photons with an accuracy of 100% was utilized.
I basically turned on the computer before I went to work and it finished about 30 minutes after I came home.
Only two lights are used in this image (one in the hallway and one in the desk lamp).
Each light uses raytraced soft shadows with some dialing done to get what I wanted. All the rest of the light in the image utilizes the GI light model native to Carrara.
Enjoy!

Excelent !
Really, really nice.
Picture and light of course very nice and I have question, indirect light and light source with soft shadow for what you make this? I just not understand physics of process.
I made this image as a test for Carrara but what I find is that I stare at this image and wonder what it would be like to be there. What's down the hallway? It's was a relatively simple scene to build but the render has a lot of depth for me. It's strange how that happened to work out.
Excellent demo.
Excellent render, hope to see a comparion with the Luxus renderer for Carrara soon... I suggest that you post the image on Youtube with some scary music. Then you go from tech demo to short story clip...
