The Vaimānika Shāstra ( वैमानिक शास्त्र, lit. "shastra on the topic of Vimanas"; sometimes also rendered Vimanika, Vymanika) is an early 20th century Sanskrit text on aeronautics obtained by psychic channeling and automatic writing. It makes the claim that the vimānas mentioned in ancient Sanskrit epics were advanced aerodynamic flying vehicles, similar to a rocket. The existence of the text was revealed in 1952 by G. R. Josyer who asserted that it was written by Pandit Subbaraya Shastry (1866–1940), who dictated it during the years 1918–1923. A Hindi translation was published in 1959, while the Sanskrit text with an English translation was published in 1973. It contains 3000 shlokas in 8 chapters which Shastry claimed was psychically delivered to him by the ancient Hindu sage Bharadvaja. The text has gained favor among proponents of ancient astronaut theories. A study by aeronautical and mechanical engineering at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1974 concluded that the aircraft described in the text were "poor concoctions" and that the author showed a complete lack of understanding of aeronautics. The study also states "The Rukma Vimana was the only one which made sense. It had long vertical ducts with fans on the top to suck air from the top and send it down the ducts, generating a lift in the process."

Le Shastra Vaimanika (वैमानिक शास्त्र, allumé »shastra sur le thème de Vimanas";. Parfois aussi rendu Vimanika, Vymanika) est un début du 20ème siècle texte sanscrit sur l'aéronautique obtenus par channeling psychique et l'écriture automatique. Il est l'affirmation selon laquelle les vimanas mentionnés dans l'ancien sanskrit épopées ont été avancées aérodynamiques des véhicules volants, semblable à une fusée. L'existence de ce texte a été révélé en 1952 par GR Josyer qui a affirmé qu'il a été écrit par Pandit Subbaraya Shastry (1866-1940), qui l'a dictée pendant les 1918-1923 ans. Une traduction hindi a été publié en 1959, alors que le texte sanscrit avec une traduction en anglais a été publié en 1973. Il contient 3000 shlokas en 8 chapitres qui Shastry réclamés a été psychiquement remis par l'ancien Bharadvaja sage hindou. Le texte a gagné la faveur des tenants de théories des anciens astronautes. Une étude de l'ingénierie aéronautique et mécanique à l'Indian Institute of Science de Bangalore en 1974 a conclu que l'aéronef décrit dans le texte étaient "concoctions pauvres» et que l'auteur a montré un manque total de compréhension de l'aéronautique. L'étude indique également "Le vimana Rukma était le seul qui avait un sens. Il avait conduits à long verticales avec des ventilateurs sur le dessus pour aspirer l'air par le haut et l'envoyer vers le bas les conduits, la génération d'un ascenseur dans le processus."
