Wonderful plant,
I do like these. The creamy stamens are so beautiful ... it's like they're dancing!
Love the contrast of colors
Surviving beautifully!!
Gorgeous colors on this flower :-) Lovely shot indeed.
The Native Americans of our southwest are superb potters. The Navajo and Hopi will often cut a small piece of clay out of the finished product before firing. They explain that only God is perfect. I thought about that story when looking at this beautiful image and thinking how perfect it was. Then I saw the little bite missing from one petal.
Outstanding color, contrast and patterns, Andrea.
very beautiful
lovely treatment of this iconic flower, we are having a good year with ours
Looks like some royalty amongst flowers - all in purple ... I couldn't grow them here - too warm! - but you would find them in the Southern States of OZ. lovely specimen, BB
Marvelous! I don't know diddly squat about flowers, except for the fact that some orchids are deceptive in that they're beautiful and completely nefarious, and there's apparently a fungus that causes flowers to grow rather exuberantly so that the fungus itself can spread its spore bearing tendrils among the pistils and stamens of a flower, thus hijacking pollinating insects for its own fungal needs; apparently the fungus in question is a kind of reverse parasite. Well, it's a parasite that actually enhances the host in exchange for the chance to mix pollen with its own spores. I suspect that this image has nothing to do with what I just wrote above, and yet...somehow it is all related in some quantum-Zen-coincidental way. I got to thinking about that while looking at this particular blossom: one that just so happens to dwell within the range of my favorite color. I love the fact that the unmodified flower petals themselves lend grace notes to the background digifiddle. Now that's brilliant!
Very nice, though unfamiliar to me! Very beautiful I think!
An enchanting shot of such a richly coloured bloom! Excellent!
Lovely flower great colour.
Beautiful never saw them this color before Hugs Susan~
Excellent color contrast and a zoom will provide a lovely look at the Stamens!
beautiful flower, great colors and details.
Excellent shot of this beauty...I can't quite decide if I love the purple ones best, or the white ones. I guess it's a tie!
