Description
We had a long morning trying to find the elusive Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Once again unsuccessful, this is a bird I have never seen. The consolation prize was this bird the Greater Spotted Woodpecker (much more common) drumming. This is how they proclaim their territory, hammering out a rhythm on trees. This was a paused moment in his routine.
You cannot bang your head against a wall all day!

Superb Kevin, I like this shot a lot.
What a fab pic!
Fantastic capture, outstanding clarity & detail...
Oh, good find! I hear them around here all the time, but rarely are they seen. I'm amazed they can think at all after all that drumming!
Very good capture!
Totally great shot!
Lol. Superb capture my friend. God bless.
This is a super shot Kevin.
I like your words going with this beautiful capture, Kevin. All looks successful here, The bird, as the textures and colors of the tree he is 'working on'.
