Description
This bungee cord is attached to one of our bird feeders & provides a convenient perch for birds while waiting for their turn at the feeder. I believe this is a sparrow of some kind, but I'm not sure...

The bungee cord is a perfect perch ... very clever! I'm not much help with bird identification, but it sure is a cutie!
Just to clarify, the bungee wasn't designed to be a perch. The feeder extends out from our deck via a metal rod that swivels & the two diagonally attached bungees keep it in position. When we need to refill the feeder, we unhook one of the bungees, which allows us to pull in the feeder. And to further clarify, I can't even take credit for that cleverness - I copied the idea from my clever neighbor!

What a stunning capture of this little bird! Fantastic detail! I never thought of bungee cords, but I think the squirrels would use them as tightropes to get to the feeders in my yard.
Denise - The bungee cords lead to a length of rebar rod, which leads to one of those round pieces of plastic that will start to spin when a squirrel lands on it & cause them to fall off. The bird feeder is below the plastic disk. It's been effective at keeping the squirrels away from the feeder, though the bluejays come along & shovel large amounts of seed from the feeder to the grassy area below & squirrels (& other birds) gobble it up from there...
