Overview of the stunning Castlepoint coastline on NZ's remote Wairarapa region. There is a bay behind Castle Rock called Christmas Bay where Captain Cook spent Christmas morning in 1769.
Three shot fusion taken once the sun came out. Although it looks calm it was actually quite windy making it tricky to get three frames without ghosting of foreground objects.

I like the way this veers towards hyper-realism without crossing that line that turns it into the kind of hyper-reality that approaches schmultz. The dramatic differences between the largely featureless lighthouse tower, the rugged landscape, and the clouds are quite nice and I like the way the sky and water seem to reflect each other, but in a distorted way; they seem unified only by color, which adds to the wonderful sense of diversity in this image, at least for me. This is really nice.
