Description
The weather is what the Scots call 'dreek' here. But look down at any bit of ground and the variety of life is amazing.
Just in this tiny patch, and apart from the Fir cone and Lichens, there are Daisy leaves, Grass blades, Dandelion and Yarrow.
The dead leaves are of Holly, Oak and Pine needles.

Update on Ralphie: he is doing very well and is back to his old self.
In reply to various questions/suggestions about fox control
1."The law prevents the use of any form of inhumane and poisonous control methods and any chemical you might choose to use must be covered by the Control of Pesticide Regulations 1986. The best course of action, however, is to remove the attraction in the first place which is likely to be food and or shelter." Hah!
2. I do have a complete high fence right round my back garden with no tunnels under it..fences are no barrier to foxes.
It is also probably illegal to top the fence with anything that a human burglar might cut himself on when trespassing on your property. Poor darling. Health and Safety, you know.
Interesting website Here

This is a very interesting combination of living and dead plant life Andrea. Glad Ralphie is ok.
i love those muted colours
Stunning shot !!!
Superb capture Andrea. God Bless.
Never seen anything like this before really cool stuff here and yes the Aurora lights is the same program was just trying it out with just three colors to create whatever u could say lol have a great day hon.
Superb capture
An interesting bunch of plants, I did notice while filling the bird feeder that some Daffs are starting to pop up but no sign of Snowdrops ,Bluebells or Crocus. Glad Ralphie is OK
Again you show you have a gifted artful and optimistic eye with your fine image even at this time of the year... Glad Ralphie is doing fine!... He looked such the "regal royal warrior" (quick ten times fast on that!) in your photo yesterday! It is so sad about the plight of the poor foxes. Like on this side of the pond, it seems the "ole govy" is awash with political correctness up against the humane treatment of animals (and the human riff-raff in society - don't we wish they showed as much empathy to us taxpayers and property owners!) I enjoyed the website link to catch a wider perspective on the issue of the foxes. Have a totally wonderful day!
A veritable pot pourri of textures my friend. "fences are no barrier to foxes" Boy isn't that the truth. I have seen our urban red foxes scale my six foot seven inch wall. And I have even seen them walking on the roof of the house opposite. I am bad though because I feed them hehe!
A really little wonderful world you found there :)
Beautiful! I love your composition ... you have such an eye for this sort of thing. Lovely image!
so wonderful photo! like this composition to
Lots to look at here, very pretty.
Beautiful capture that shows an assortment of life
Very cool capture Thanks for the link - most interesting information
A wonderful display of different textures and earthy colours Andrea!
What a great eye you have for things like this You have to be looking very hard to find them I would of never thought to look underneath the leaves...... yes I heard someone say the other day they had daffodils popping up I am sure they will re freeze...we still have the month of Feb to go thru and March has been known to pack in a punch as well great artist eye here and love the color combo Hugs Susan
Quite a collection of natural wonders and an excellent shot! A good friend of mine dug a trench along his tall fence and put stainless steel chicken wire down. He then secured it to the fence bottom and put the soil back. A lot of work, but he said it was better than going to the gym. It kept out foxes from his chickens and all the rabbits out that ate his veg patch.
SUPERB WORK!
Everything but the kitchen sink in this beautifully photographed scene, A. And your UK laws appear to favor the predator and not the victim.
Just a local neighborhood where all the residents get along. Lovely image. There was a news story here several years ago about a burglar who fell off someone's slippery roof while trying to rob the house and hurt his back. He sued and won! Unsafe premises leading to injury. Don't you just love it?
A dazzling array of greenish items Andrea although the lichen is the star in this photo. Lovely! Thanks for the update about Ralphie.
a beautiful little micro-garden. Most people don't see the things right there under their very noses .. or rather feet.
lovely capture, beautiful variations of green
I love these little pieces of nature; gorgeous shot!
