Description
Photographing formerly forbidden places.
An inner courtyard of the harem at Topkapi Palace, Istanbul.
Once forbidden to all men except the sultan and his sons, and the unichs (who were not considered to be men), this area has now been restored and is open to the public... for a price.

my friend this is beautiful, I love it :)
Wonderful photograph. As warped as I am, I would not venture to guess what the price man has to pay now....;)
so cool! bet history channel does not have one yet.
This is an absolutely beautiful photo Roxy. Love the hazy sort of atmosphere, as if it's 'out of time'. The tile work and columns are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing :)
Wonderful shot!!!!!
Interesting composition and back-story.
Your shots never cease to amaze me Roxy... this is awesome!
What a fantastic capture Roxy, it must be a thrill to be able to photograph such a place
I like the depth, the varied focus & the light & dark contrasts in this shot. I guess you'd have to go back in time to include the harem women themselves (or maybe it could be the subject of a Poser composition?)...
Really interesting image
Nice Shot!!
Been to the palace, but nowaday, only long tour line keeps men out...;) great pic
superb, what a picture
Excellent shot! And all the tourists making pictures is so funny!:)
Amazing image
Nice image, thanks for the information. Frans
Must be nice to see what is inside out of curiosity, I read some stories about harems and all I can think of are tons of pillows ha-ha. Love the framing, a beautiful post, Roxy!
beautiful pic, the textures and colors of the building is amazing
Oh Roxi, this is a brilliant shot. Portrait orientation is here admirably. Beautiful colors and textures and the focus on the people who want to keep this old beauty necessarily on images. Great... candid streetphotography!
This is a really wonderful shot, Roxy! I love the play of light - the way the bright light on the building on the right reflects into the scene. It's really great! And I think the inclusion of the girl on the left taking the photo absolutely makes this shot!
I love the colors! You're so good at capturing stuff like this, no matter where it is. I love the intensity of the colors, the shapes, the textures, and the human activity in this. There's a great sense of space (and time) here. Brilliantly seen and captured.
Absolutely stunning! Love how the colours and textures pop and blend, wonderful composition.
Seems everything has a price! Lovely postwork!
One great shot. I am amazed at the construction and stone/tile workmanship..And how long ago was this built?
Great work on the effects it adds an almost unreal quality to the photograph/
Fantastic capture!!!
