Description

Dear Helle, I painted this nasturtium for you using the photo I posted on November 1st as a reference. Since I can't draw worth beans, I traced the outline and then painted from there. If I'd known how it was going to turn out, I would have painted it on a transparent layer in ArtRage, but as it was, the background was white. I took that white background out, put a photograph behind the flower, and postworked the photograph beyond recognition. It was a fun piece to do, and I thought you'd like to know how it all came together! Birthday hugs, Tara Happy Birthday, Helle!

This is magnificent! It's a perfect gift too! I love the brilliance and the intense, lively color! Such a wonderful antidote for the winter-time grays that have overcome Chicago with its now-short days. This is super! I stared at this for a long, long time, and in a darkened room it really jumps out and plays nicely with my eyes. This is a perfect gift for The Birthday Lady!

That's really awesome work, Tara! I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't a photo! Nice thing about using nasturtiums as painting models is you can eat them afterwards! LOL
