I'm amazed when the media chatters on about how careless earlier generations were toward sun exposure and skin cancer... Gee, maybe, just maybe people back then were far more concerned about surviving something else? Don't you think?
I'm taking a break from modelling Fokker VII radials and heavy cruiser bits and pieces. Perhaps a PBY is not everyone's idea of a beach umbrella! Here is a daytime render of a beached RAAF "Black cat" sometime in the mid-1940's, textured "as new" this time- using the Digimation catalina model.
Imagine how hot that black surface got in the tropical sun!!!! BBQ anyone?
